our ethos the pearl of dorset, lyme regis is a beautiful place, we hope that our bed and breakfast offers the perfect location for a break to enjoy what lyme and it’s surrounding area has to offer: near enough to get to town easily but far enough to escape from the hustle and bustle of life in the town, and an easy, fairly level 25 minute walk along scenic footpaths, following the path of the river Lym. we bought beech grove house in 2005, and with the help of our architect steve, we created the building that is here today, incorporating as many eco features as we could: high levels of insulation; solar gain through the sun room; a rainwater harvester which is used for (dual flush) toilet flushing and the washing machine; a heat recovery system and most recently the installation of solar panels (what a great day—when the meter went around backwards) even the hot tub is highly insulated!! once we had decided we wanted to run a b&b we tried to create the sort of place that we would like to stay in, and not the archetypal image of a bed and breakfast, our emphasis is on comfort and service, and to provide a relaxing atmosphere, come and go as you please, or stay in all day ; enjoy eco friendly luxury in a stunning location please note that we have a resident dog, he does not shed fur, we try to keep him away from guests, but if you have an allergy or a scared of dogs we may not be the place for you to stay, also we cannot accommodate guests’ pets we are delighted to welcome guests into our home and are proud that in our first year (indeed in only our second week) we were awarded 5 stars with a silver award by visit britain and in our second year we achieved 5 star gold, now we prefer to let our guests speak |

food there is a long tradition of high quality produce in the west country , here at beech grove house we want to embrace this cattle, sheep, fruit and vegetables thrive in the mild climate, farmers and smaller scale producers are committed to humane and sustainable methods our sausages, pork and bacon products come from local butchers, eggs are free range (most from our own hens), honey is local and our preserves are home made; cakes, pastries and breads are either home baked or come from the local town mill ( genius or warburtons gluten free bread)
breakfast having enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep come down to the dining room which has views across the front garden and pond towards the sea at lyme regis; breakfast is served around a communal table, help yourselves to cereals, juices, pastries, home made bread, preserves and yogurt, followed by your choice of traditional full english cooked breakfast or one of our specials such as kippers, smoked haddock or salmon, with eggs from our own hens (they also eat any food scraps) we offer gluten free bread and sausages (and poached egg!!) our continental breakfast comprises fruit salad, yogurt, juice, pastries, preserves, toast, continental meats and cheese, and of course coffee or tea wherever possible we try to source seasonal, local and humanely produced food, where this is not possible for example citrus and tropical fruits, tea, coffee, chocolate and sugar we try to use responsible suppliers we pride ourselves on the quality of our breakfasts, and guests truly enjoy them although we do not offer an evening meal, a pre booked light supper can be provided on your first night, after perhaps a long journey – this will be served on a tray in the drawing room, please contact us for details and sample menu |
